Rolandas Paksas was born on 10 June 1956 in Telšiai. His parents Elena and Feliksas Paksas still live there. In 1974 he graduated Žemaitė Secondary School and entered Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute (now - Vilnius Gediminas Technical University). In 1979 he defended his diploma paper and acquired the specialization of industrial and civil engineer.
Yet during his study years Mr R. Paksas became the master of acrobatic flying and was invited to the Lithuanian and Soviet Union teams. In 1980 it was the first time he became the champion of the Soviet Union. Mr R. Paksas has become a multiple winner of Lithuanian championships and the winner of Darius and Girėnas Cup.
In 1984 he graduated Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) Civil Aviation Academy and was granted the diploma of engineer pilot.
In 1985 Mr R. Paksas was assigned as the chief of Vilnius Darius and Girėnas Airclub. As Lithuania restored its independence, he was in charge of aviation squadron of the Voluntary National Defence Service before in 1997 he was elected to the Council of Vilnius City and became the mayor of the capital. Since June till October 1999, Mr R. Paksas was the Prime Minister of the Ninth Government of the Republic of Lithuania. In December of that year he was elected as the chairman of the Liberal Union of Lithuania.
In April 2000 Mr R. Paksas became the mayor of Vilnius City for the second time, whereas in autumn he was elected to the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. Since November 2000 up to June 2001 he was heading the Eleventh Ministers Cabinet of Lithuania.
Since July 2001 up to November of the same year he became the elder of the Liberal Political Group and the leader of the Seimas opposition.
In March 2002 Mr R. Paksas founded the Liberal Democratic Party and became its chairman.
On 5 January 2003 Rolandas Paksas was elected as the President of the Republic of Lithuania and until 6 April 2004 he held the position of the President of the Republic of Lithuania, from which, due to political conspiracy, he was unlawfully removed from his office.
On 11 December 2004 he was elected as the Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party.
Since 1999 up to September 2002 he was in charge of Vilnius Club. Later he became the honorary president of this Club. Mr R. Paksas is the leader of Vilnius Acrobatic Flying Team and the member of Acrobatic Flying Federation of Lithuania.
Since 10 June 2006 up to 27 July President Rolandas Paksas made a flight around the World that took 47 days to complete.
On 25 February 2007 he was elected to Vilnius City Council. He was a member of City Council until 17 June 2009.
On 12 May 2007 during 6th Congress of party Order and Justice (liberal democrats) that took place in Vilnius President Rolandas Paksas was realected as party chairman.
From 30 September 2007 until 6 october President Rolandas Paksas made a visit to USA.
On 7 June 2009 party Order and Justice won two mandates in European Parliament elections. The chairman of party Order and Justice became a member of European Parliament, and a vice-chairman of political group "Europe of Freedom and Democracy".
In addition to flying, he loves tennis and motorcycling, values an interesting book and music.
Married to Laima Paksienė, engineer economist. Daughter Inga graduated the Mykolas Riomeris University of Lithuania, she is married and have two children, and son Mindaugas is the student at Vilnius Liubertienė Secondary School.
